Matthias Weber (basketball coach)

Matthias Weber (* 1977 ) is a German basketball coach .

Life

Weber was a youth coach at TuS Bramsche from the mid-1990s , in 1997 he moved to TSV Quakenbrück , where he was also active in the youth division and in 1998 also in the women's division. In the 1999/2000 season he was a youth coach on the staff of BG'89 Rotenburg / Scheeßel and was responsible for the men's team of SC Rasta Vechta (then in the regional league) in the 2000/01 season . In the 2001/02 season Weber was Chris Fleming's assistant coach for the Artland Dragons in the 2nd Bundesliga .

From 2002 to 2013 he was the coach of VfL Stade and led the team in his last season (2012/13) to promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga ProB . He was chosen by the basketball service eurobasket.com as “Coach of the Year” of the Regionalliga Nord in the 2012/13 season. Parallel to his job in Stade, Weber became a full-time national coach of the Lower Saxony Basketball Association (NBV) in 2010 . In 2013 he completed his training at the trainer academy of the German Olympic Sports Confederation .

In the summer of 2017 Weber was the assistant coach of the German U19 national team at the World Cup in Egypt .

On January 1, 2019, Weber moved from the NBV to the German Basketball Federation, where he took over the position of head of discipline and national coach for "3-on-3" .
