Matthias Anton Weigold (born November 14, 1951 ) is a German author and director .

Matthias Weigold began his theater work in 1973 as an assistant director at the Regensburg City Theater under Günter Beyer . In 1974 he staged Turning Point as a fringe event for the Wexford Festival Opera in Ireland. The play was nominated for the All Ireland Festival in Naas in 1975 and was awarded the Critics' Prize for directing.

Weigold started several theater projects. In 1976 he founded the touring company Test Theater in Munich together with Norbert Skrovanek and produced

The Test Theater played at theater festivals in Berlin, Hamburg, Mannheim, Saarbrücken, Regensburg, Munich, Linz, Vienna, Bern, Wexford and Dublin, among others.

Author, journalist and media entrepreneur

To finance his theater life, Matthias Weigold wrote his first short story for the men's magazine Lui in 1977 . More short stories and later text and photo reports followed in quick succession. In addition, he was one of the authors of the culture magazine TransAtlantik .

In 1985 he founded the independent editorial team without newspaper (RoZ) together with Thomas Wartmann , Uli Langguth and Peter Würth . From 1986 Matthias Weigold and the RoZ belonged to the creative team of the ARD show Vier gegen Willi . In 1987 he worked as an ARD screenwriter in the pre-production team of Herzblatt and Leo .

From 1991 Matthias Weigold worked again as a freelance author and photographer and reported a. a. from Australia, Burma, USA, Morocco, India and Ireland. From 1991 to 1993 he wrote the scripts for Sat 1 for a total of 36 programs in the infotainment format Wahre Wunder with Sabrina Fox and Dietmar Schönherr .

In 1992 Goldmann Verlag published the travel guide Magical Travel - Ireland , which Weigold wrote and photographed together with his then wife Sabine Korte. In 2003 his first novel The Song of Death Fairies was also published by Goldmann, followed in 2006 by the novel Seven Letters of Love and Death .

In 2000 Matthias Weigold founded Quinn medienservices as a service provider for medium-sized companies.
