Norbert Skrovanek (born March 9, 1954 in Bratislava , † November 11, 2014 in Hamburg ) was a German television director, screenwriter, producer and university lecturer.

Life

Skrovanek grew up trilingual (Slovak, German with Viennese dialect, Hungarian), his family comes from Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Bavaria and Italy. In 1965 he came to Germany. In Munich he attended the Albertinum, a Jesuit boarding school. At Erasmus Grasser-Gymnasium he finished high school. Even then he worked as an actor and author in school and youth theater.

From 1975 he studied literature and art history as well as theater and communication science at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . From 1976 to 1980 he was also a founding member (author, director, actor, together with Matthias Weigold ) of an off-theater based in Munich, subsidized by the city. Tours through Germany and Europe followed.

1981 to 1982 he had an acting engagement at the Residenztheater in Munich . He has worked in productions by Dieter Giesing , Ingmar Bergman and Ernst Seiltgen, among others . From 1982 to 1984 he was responsible for the concept management in the cultural department of the state capital Munich , for film weeks, festivals in Germany and abroad, readings and events. In addition, from 1983 to 1984 he took over the management of the coordination office of Robert Wilson and was his personal assistant ( The CIVIL warS - USA, FRG, France, Netherlands, Japan).

In 1985 he founded his own blue film production , which still exists today , with which he mainly produced documentary films for ZDF until 1994.

He took on his first lecturing activity from 1994 to 1997, as a lecturer at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg Ludwigsburg in the diploma course in documentary film. In addition, since 1994 he has worked as a television director specializing in fiction.
Since 2005 he has been the university lecturer in charge of film and television at the medienakademie Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, Rügen.

His first marriage was to actress Lena Stolze , and his second marriage to journalist and publicist Maria Schoppa . The two children Sophia-Anna and Jan-Michael come from this marriage. Skrovanek had lived in Hamburg with his family since 1987.
