Heartbeat - The medical team Nord is a hospital drama of the ZDF . The setting was a clinic in Husum, North Frisia . 72 episodes (seasons 1 to 3) were broadcast on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. between 1999 and 2002. Another 13 episodes (season 4) were broadcast under the slightly different title Heartbeat - The Rescuers until 2003, also on Tuesdays at 7:25 p.m.

The staff of the modern Klinikum Nord in Husum take great care of their patients. Usually these are just harmless routine cases, but the struggle for life and death also keeps doctors busy. The focus of the episodes is on the patients, their stories and fates. The help of the clinic is not only looking for citizens from Husum and the coastal region, but also tourists and ship personnel. In the event of emergencies at sea, the medical team intervenes to provide support.

The permanent staff under the direction of Prof. Roland Wagner ( Christoph Quest ) consists initially of the doctors Anja Hainbach ( Margrit Sartorius ), Dr. Tilman Behrens ( Silvan-Pierre Leirich ), Wagner's daughter Dr. Susanne Vahrenholt ( Maike Bollow ), Dr. Sören Sörensen ( Christoph Mory ) and Dr. Dr. Markus Schumacher ( Frank Behnke ) as well as head nurse Hella Ostermann ( Judith von Radetzky ), carer Kalle Jensen ( Oliver Betke ) and sister Ly ( Ly Châu ). In season 2, the internist Dr. Andreas Neuhaus ( Andreas Herder ) and the nurses Lydia ( Nadine Brandt ) and Imke ( Aline Hochscheid ) were added temporarily. After Prof. Wagner's departure, his daughter Susanne takes over the management of the clinic from season 3. Assistant doctor Dr. Kluge ( Gerit Kling ), the surgeon Dr. Schneider ( René Schoenenberger ), the assistant doctor Dr. Paola Sturm ( Astrid M.
