The Matyra ( Russian Маты́ра ) is a left tributary of the Voronezh in the Russian oblasts of Tambov and Lipetsk .

The Matyra rises west of Tambow on the edge of the Oka-Don plain . It flows in a westerly direction past Grjasi to Lipetsk . Shortly before Lipetsk, it is dammed up to the Matyrsk reservoir (Маты́рское водохрани́лище). On the northern outskirts of Lipetsk, the Matyra finally flows into the Voronezh River on the left. The Matyra has a length of 180 km. It drains an area of ​​5180 km². It is mainly fed by the snowmelt . The mean discharge (MQ) 39 km above the mouth is 11.7 m³ / s. Matyra freezes in November / early December. At the end of March it will be free of ice again.
