Maurizio Gervasoni (born December 20, 1953 in Sarnico , Bergamo province , Italy ) is an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Vigevano .

Life

Maurizio Gervasoni was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Bergamo on June 11, 1977 . In 1982 he received his doctorate theologiae . After working as a lecturer, among other things, he became president of the diocesan Caritas association in 1993. Pope John Paul II awarded him the title of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness in 1999 . In 2010 Gervasoni became professor for the history of religion at Bergamo University.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Vigevano on July 20, 2013 . The Archbishop Emeritus of Milan , Dionigi Cardinal Tettamanzi , who headed the Diocese of Vigevano as Apostolic Administrator during the Sedis vacancy , donated him episcopal ordination on September 28 of the same year . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Bergamo , Francesco Beschi , and the auxiliary bishop emeritus in Bergamo, Lino Bortolo Belotti . The inauguration in the diocese of Vigevano followed on October 5, 2013.
