Maurizio Silvi

Maurizio Silvi (* 1949 in Albano Laziale ) is an Italian make- up artist .

He began his training in Manlio Rocchetti's workshop , where he learned to make false beards for three years. After that, he volunteered on various sets for another three years.

Getting to know Baz Luhrmann was an important turning point in Silvis' career. He was allowed to freely create a modern look for the film William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet . Since then he has worked on various Luhrmann films. For his work on the set of Moulin Rouge! Together with the hairdresser Aldo Signoretti - with whom he works regularly - he received a nomination for a BAFTA Award as well as for the Oscar in the category Best Makeup . In addition, he and his colleagues Vincenzo Mastrantonio and Lesley Vanderwalt received a Hollywood Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Guild Award .
