The Max Beckmann School ( MBS for short ) is an upper-level high school in the Bockenheim district of Frankfurt and includes grades 11 to 13. In the 2013/2014 school year, it was attended by 581 students. It is named after the painter Max Beckmann .

history

Entrance on Georg-Speyer-Straße.

The school was founded in 1973 as the upper secondary school Bockenheim-Süd (GOS) and began its work at the beginning of the 1973/74 school year. It was founded because the Frankfurt grammar schools at that time did not see themselves in a position to accept the numerous high school students suitable for attending the grammar school and to lead them to general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur). The school continues to fulfill this task to this day.

In 1985 the GOS was renamed the Max Beckmann School . On November 10, 1988, she moved from her temporary accommodation, a building belonging to the Georg Büchner School in Pfingstbrunnenstrasse in Bockenheim-Süd, to the renovated and listed building on Sophienstrasse in Bockenheim-Nord, which was built in 1913 according to plans by city architect Adolf Moritz and Stadtbauinspektor Paul Kanold and housed the Liebig-Oberrealschule from 1913 to 1966 .

Since 1997, the Max Beckmann School has formed a school network with the neighboring Georg Büchner School , a community school with elementary level (grades 1 to 10).
