action

The Belgian Shepherd Dog Max is used to support the US soldiers in Afghanistan. When he gets into an ambush with his master Kyle Wincott, he is fatally hit. Severely traumatized, Max comes into the care of Kyle's family. Now 14-year-old Justin takes care of him, who mourns his brother Kyle. Justin soon realizes that he and Max have the opportunity to find out the truth about Kyle's death. When Kyle's comrade-in-arms returns from Afghanistan, there is mounting evidence that the deadly military operation involved arms smuggling.

criticism

The film service described the film as an “unbalanced mix of war and youth films, animal and gangster stories” that “wildly switches between genres and thus alienates the family target groups”. "Narrative interesting" is the "conflict of the title hero, who can no longer fulfill his task as a military dog, but has yet to learn how to live as a pet".

Awards

Josh Wiggins received a Young Artist Award nomination for his role in the "Best Performance in a Feature Film - Young Leading Actor (14-21 Years)" category.
