Max Dietrich Kley
Max Dietrich Kley (born February 26, 1940 in Berlin ) is chairman of the supervisory board of SGL Carbon SE and a member of the supervisory board of HeidelbergCement AG . He was on the Board of Management of BASF AG from 1990 to 2003 and has been a member of the Supervisory Board since then. From 2002 to 2010 he was Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Infineon AG and temporarily also Chairman of the Management Board .
Life
Max Dietrich Kley was born in Berlin in 1940. He made his Abitur at the Humanistic Gymnasium in Bamberg . He studied law at the universities of Munich , Heidelberg , Paris and Göttingen . In 1960 he became a member of the Corps Vandalo-Guestphalia Heidelberg. In 1969 he became a member of the legal department at BASF AG and in 1972 received power of attorney . In 1977 he took over the management of the tax department. In March 1982 he became chairman of the mining board of the Auguste Victoria trade union with the Auguste Victoria mine in Marl, which belonged to BASF. In June of the same year he took over the chairmanship of the mine. In 1987 he became head of the Energy and Coal division of BASF, in April 1990 CFO of BASF and nine years later, in April 1999, its deputy chairman. In the meantime he was also Labor Director . In 2002 he also took over the chairmanship of the Supervisory Board of Infineon AG . In May 2003, he ended his time on the board of directors at BASF and moved to the supervisory board. After Ulrich Schumacher left , he was temporarily CEO of Infineon from March to August 2004 until the appointment of the new CEO, Wolfgang Ziebart . With effect from September 17, 2004, Kley was appointed Chairman of the Supervisory Board of SGL Carbon SE.
In July 2005, Max Dietrich Kley was criticized for his behavior in a bribery affair at Infineon AG. In February 2010 there was another scandal when Kley was able to enforce his desired successor as Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Klaus Wucherer , only with considerable resistance.
Kley is married and has three children. His younger brother is Karl-Ludwig Kley , former Lufthansa CFO and former CEO of Merck KGaA .
