Helene von Roeder (born June 5, 1970 in Heidelberg ) is a German manager . She has been a member of Vonovia's Executive Board since May 2018 and, as Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for the Group's finances. Von Roeder previously worked in the banking sector , including for Credit Suisse . She is one of the best-known female executives in the German economy.

origin

Von Roeder comes from an entrepreneurial family : Her father is Max Dietrich Kley , her grandfather was Gisbert Kley . In Karl-Ludwig Kley is her uncle. After graduating from high school , von Roeder studied theoretical physics from 1989 to 1993 at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . She then moved to the renowned Trinity College at the University of Cambridge , where she successfully completed her studies in theoretical astrophysics with a Master of Philosophy in 1994 .

Career

Roeder began his professional career in 1995 in risk controlling at Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt am Main . In 2000 she took up a job at UBS , where she dealt, for example, with alternative forms of financing for start-up companies .

In 2004 von Roeder finally joined Morgan Stanley as Executive Director after a brief stint at Merrill Lynch . From 2012 she was responsible for the capital market business in Germany and Austria, and in 2013 she was promoted to the regional board of directors of the bank. Her projects as an investment banker included, for example, the IPO of the Kion Group and the sale of Daimler's shares to EADS . In 2014 von Roeder moved to Credit Suisse as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Germany, Austria and Central Europe . In this position she was responsible for the entire business in the region and was a member of the international management team. Among other things, she dealt with the filling of posts and the restructuring of investment banking.

At the beginning of 2018, the real estate group Vonovia announced that it would sign von Roeder as board member. Her calling was part of several management changes . Initially von Roeder was supposed to take over the controlling , later the supervisory board made her responsible for the entire finances of Vonovia.

As a board member of Vonovia, von Roeder joined the supervisory board of the Austrian subsidiary BUWOG in 2018 . Since 2019 she has also been a member of the supervisory board of the chemical and pharmaceutical company Merck and was appointed to the shareholders' council of the owner family.

Von Roeder belongs to the "Generation CEO" network, which advocates women in management positions. She is married and has three children.
