Max Dora

Max Dora (born March 25, 1921 in Basel , † February 5, 1995 in Aubonne ) was a Swiss film company manager, film producer and production manager.

Life

After completing his military service in 1944, Dora joined Peka-Film / Turicop AG Zurich, where he got to know the industry from the bottom up as an accountant in their laboratories. In 1945 he was given the management of the Bellerive studios and the Peka film recording studios. In 1947 Max Dora switched to the Swiss distribution company Gloriafilm AG, whose fate he was to determine from then on as manager and administrator. From 1959 to 1964 Dora was a member of the Praesens-Gloria board of directors, and from 1965 to 1972 he was the production manager of Standard Film AG and CEFI-Film AG.

Subsequently, from 1975, the Basler was responsible for the Swiss Film Weekly. This was followed by engagements with Elite-Film, the Swiss Army Film Service and Condor-Film AG . Dora also produced for Swiss television and was also a member of the Federal Film Commission and the Board of Directors of the Cinémathèque Suisse from 1963 to 1972 . During his time as an active film producer or production manager, Max Dora worked several times with colleagues Oscar Düby and Lazar Wechsler ; In the 1970s he temporarily returned to active film production at the side of Erwin C. Dietrich .
