Max Fueter
Max Fueter (pronounced [fuətər] ; born March 6, 1898 in Konolfingen ; † September 29, 1983 in Bern ) was a Swiss sculptor , draftsman and watercolorist .
Life
In 1917 Fueter graduated from the literary school in Bern and entered the trade school in 1918. After attending the trade school in Bern, Fueter took figure drawing lessons from Ernst Linck and Victor Surbek . At the university he continued his education in philosophy , art history and psychology . Stays in Berlin and Rome followed between 1926 and 1930 .
In 1932, Max Fueter was portrayed by Victor Surbek in the group picture Round Table - a circle of artists and art enthusiasts who met every Thursday in the Café Harmonie - who, alongside him, included the painters Herold Howald, Paul Zehnder, Max Böhlen , the art historian Wilhelm Stein and Victor Surbek himself shows.
Works
- The Flute Player (1938), fountain at the Bern Conservatory in Rathausgasse , formerly Metzgergasse, built in 1940 under the arbor arch of the conservatory's rear facade. The city of Bern announced a competition for the fountain in 1938, which Max Fueter won with his design. The flute player was cast by Mario Pastori in Geneva .
