Max Haaf

Max Haaf (born February 26, 1899 in Heiligkreuztal ; † December 15, 1972 in Andelfingen ) was a German architect .

Life

Max Haaf, who comes from an old master builder family (his father Gustav Haaf , 1861–1949, was already a building authority foreman in Heiligkreuztal, his grandfather Vinzenz Haaf also foreman ), made a name for himself as a designer of railway bridges in the 1920s and 1930s . From November 1941 to August 1942 he was a technical war administrator at the Heereswaffenamt (engineer and railway engineer department). In 1945, after the end of the war, he became head of the technology and traffic department of the State Office for the Interior of the State Secretariat for the French-occupied area of ​​Württemberg and Hohenzollern in Tübingen .

After his retirement, Max Haaf was honorary site representative for the preservation of monuments for Heiligkreuztal from 1966 to 1972 and as such was in charge of the repair work on the minster and the enclosure. The recovery and return of numerous works of art to Heiligkreuztal is thanks to his commitment. He is the author of numerous unpublished so-called "miscells" on the history of the Heiligkreuztal monastery. On October 8, 1972, Max Haaf was made an honorary citizen of the Heiligkreuztal community "in recognition of his special services to the scientific research and restoration of the Heiligkreuztal monastery and to the promotion of the cultural and economic interests of the community" .
