Maximilian "Max" Heinzelmann (* July 2, 1990 ; † May 31, 2017 ) was a professional German poker player .

Poker career

Heinzelmann came from Heubach and graduated from secondary school there in 2007 with the acquisition of a middle school leaving certificate. He played online under the nickname HotKarlMC . From 2009 to 2014 he took part in renowned live tournaments .

Heinzelmann reached the final table of the main event of the European Poker Tour twice in April 2011 and finished the tournaments in Berlin and Sanremo in second place. He earned a total of 1.1 million euros . In July 2011 , he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and finished in 151st place in the main event for around 55,000 US dollars in prize money. He cashed twice at the 2013 WSOP .

Overall, Heinzelmann earned almost two million dollars playing poker in live tournaments. In 2014, he publicly stated that he owed more than $ 100,000 in total to several creditors.

Heinzelmann died on May 31, 2017 at the age of 26. The urn burial took place on June 9, 2017 at the Heubach cemetery.
