Maximilian Haas (born December 7, 1985 in Freising ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Haas emerged from the youth of the Eintracht Freising eV sports club and played for them from 2003 to 2007 in the fifth-rate regional league south before moving to the regional league team of FC Bayern Munich. On October 29, 2008 (12th matchday) he made his debut in the away game at 3: 3 against SV Sandhausen in the 3rd division when he came on for Mehmet Ekici in the 59th minute . He scored his first goal on February 14, 2009 (22nd matchday) in the 3-2 defeat in the away game against Dynamo Dresden .

In the 2010/11 season Haas was also a member of the first team under coach Louis van Gaal , but was still used exclusively in the second team. In January 2011 Haas moved to the second division club Middlesbrough , for whom he made his debut on February 26, 2011 (34th matchday) - in the 82nd minute for Andrew Davies - in the 3-0 defeat at home to Queens Park Rangers . After only two appearances in the course of the season, the club separated from him at the end of the season.

In January 2012, the clubless Haas completed trial training at the third division club Karlsruher SC . At the end of December 2011, he had also completed a trial training session with the Portuguese first division club União Leiria . However, it was not yet possible to agree on a contract. In January 2012, Haas kept fit with his former club SE Freising . At the end of January 2012 he received an improved offer from União Leiria and signed a contract valid until June 30, 2014. On February 12, 2012 (18th matchday), Haas made his debut in the Primeira Liga , in the 0: 4 defeat in the away game against FC Porto over 90 minutes. Due to strong performances he was able to fight for a regular place. However, like many of his teammates, he dissolved his contract in Leiria at the beginning of May 2012 due to non-payment of salaries.

For the 2012/13 season Haas signed a three-year contract with the Portuguese top club SC Braga , for which he made his 90-minute debut on January 6, 2013 (13th matchday) in a 1-0 home win against newly promoted Moreirense FC . With the club he won the final of the Taça da Liga , the Portuguese league cup, 1-0 against FC Porto on April 13, 2013 ; for him personally his greatest sporting success.

Others

Haas is an all-rounder who is used, among other things, as a central defender, in the central midfield (offensive as well as defensive) or as a hanging tip. After he was previously only a substitute player and mostly in midfield, Haas earned a regular place in central defense during the 2009/10 season.
