Mayjia Gille
Mayjia Gille (* 1972 in Eilenburg as Maja Gille ) is a German artist.
Life
Gille grew up in Leipzig , Munich and West Berlin and has lived in Leipzig since 2005. Her father is the painter and graphic artist Sighard Gille . She is the mother of a daughter. Gille studied drama and theater education in the Heidelberg Theater Workshop until 2004 . She has been working as a freelance singer, author and musician since 2004.
In 2004 she was initially a member of the BekhausBand with Norman Dassler, Frank Novicky and Peter Jakubik . Mayjia Gille is under contract with the music label RUM Records with the art pop band Eisvogel . Gille describes her style of music as "ChansonRocknRoll" and thus created her own form of music, which she describes as "theatrically pictorial, danceable, diverse, text-rich, not songwriter, but also not mainstream". Your musicians come from the Leipzig jazz scene. In 2017 she produced a CD with percussionist Conny Sommer , Luxusnacht . Since 2015 Mayjia Gille has mainly appeared with the Finnish guitarist Arto Mäkelä .
Mayjia Gille received positive press reports for her longstanding commitment to setting Rainer Maria Rilke's poetry to music . With the two volumes of poetry I've been waiting in the Sarottihöfe for days and a short message at eight can be found at the Leipziger Literaturverlag.
In 2015 she founded the live talk show “Das Ledersofa”, which has been taking place in Leipzig since then with guests from business, art, politics, literature and the humanities. The talk show takes place every two months. Gille has been moderating together with actor Georg Herberger since 2018 .
Her acting activities include TV productions ( In allerfreund , Tatort ) and theater performances, as well as her own theater productions, staged readings and audio book productions.
As a painter, she has been appearing increasingly since 2016 with exhibitions, including in the Leipzig cotton spinning mill .
Gille is a member of the Society for Contemporary Poetry and the Federal Association for Theater Education .
