McLeod's Daughters is a 1996 Australian television film directed by Michael Offer . Five years later, a television series of the same name was created based on this film , which ran from 2001 to 2009.

action

Jack McLeod runs the Drover's Run cattle ranch in Australia with his daughter Claire. Jack still has the daughter Tess from his second marriage. After 20 years the two sisters meet again. Actually, Tess is on her way to Venice and just wants to tell her mother about her death. But when Jack dies trying to stop her from continuing her journey, Claire and Tess inherit the indebted farm in equal parts.

background

Posie Graeme-Evans first implemented her idea in this film. Despite the great success, with the highest ratings on Australian television to date, the station Nine Network did not believe in the success of a series with five female leading actresses. It was filmed at Kingsford Farm. When this was up for sale five years later, Graeme-Evans was able to convince the broadcaster Nine Network to buy and produce the television series McLeod's Daughters . The series was then finally created with a different cast and partially changed plot.
