McRae Williams (born October 23, 1990 in Park City ) is an American freestyle skier . He starts in the disciplines of slopestyle and big air .

Career

Williams has been participating in AFP World Tour competitions since 2009. He made his World Cup debut at the beginning of the 2012/13 season in Ushuaia , which he finished in eighth place in slopestyle. At the Winter X Games 2013 in Aspen , he finished 12th in Slopestyle. In February 2013 he achieved his first podium finish with third place in slopestyle at the Austrian Freeski Open in Kaprun . The following month he won the gold medal in slopestyle at the Winter X Games Europe in Tignes and won the Total Fight in Canillo . He finished the season in seventh place in the AFP World Tour Slopestyle Ranking. In the 2013/14 season he won the SFR Freestyle Tour in Vars and the Total Fight in Canillo. At the Winter X Games 2014 in Aspen , he won the silver medal in slopestyle. In March 2014 he was third in the SFR Freestyle Tour in La Clusaz and at the end of the season he finished fourth in the AFP World Tour Slopestyle ranking. The following season he took third place at the SFR Freestyle Tour in Vars and won in La Clusaz. At the Winter X Games 2015 in Aspen , he was tenth in slopestyle. In February 2015, he finished second in the slopestyle at the US Grand Prix and World Cup in Park City . At the AFP World Tour Finals in Whistler , he came fifth in Big Air and second in Slopestyle. At the end of the season he finished fourth in the Slopestyle World Cup and first in the AFP World Tour Slopestyle Ranking. In the 2015/16 season he made five World Cup appearances, four times in the top ten. In January 2016, he finished seventh in slopestyle at the Winter X Games in Aspen and came second in slopestyle at the US Grand Prix and World Cup in Mammoth . At the end of the season he finished 13th in the overall World Cup and third in the Slopestyle World Cup. In the 2016/17 season he won his first World Cup victory in the slopestyle in Font Romeu and won the silver medal in the slopestyle at the Winter X-Games 2017 in Aspen . In March 2017 he became world champion in slopestyle at the 2017 Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Sierra Nevada . In the same month he took fourth place in slopestyle at the X-Games Norway 2017 in Hafjell and second place in slopestyle at the World Cup in Silvaplana . At the end of the season he took second place in the Grandvalira Total Fight in slopestyle and finished the season in 35th place in the overall World Cup and in first place in the Slopestyle World Cup.
