geography

River course

The river has its source on the southern slopes of Bastion Bluff , a mountain in the Great Western Tiers , about 18 km northwest of Great Lake . From there it first flows northeast to the settlement of Meander at the foot of the mountains. There it turns its course northwards until it reaches Deloraine . North of the city it turns east and flows past the towns of Westbury and Carrick to Hadspen , where it joins the South Esk River just before it enters Lake Trevallyn .
