organization structure

The Bavarian State Center for New Media founded the television association M94.5. The association is thus organized under private law, but operates under public law. BLM has held 63 percent of Mediaschool Bayern since 2018 and finances ongoing operations together with the other shareholders as before. The Mediaschool Bayern Anbieterverein München eV is managed by three board members. The first chairman is currently Bernhard Goodwin (IfKW, LMU Munich). The GmbH provides technology, funding and administrative support for the work of the editorial offices in Munich and Nuremberg and takes care of the coordination of the training and further education channels as well as delivered media educational projects.

Many training institutions, media companies and media educational institutions from Bavaria are represented in the television association. The club members also deliver programs for the training channel. Among others, there are for example: the Academy of the Bavarian Press (ABP), the Bavarian Academy for Television (BAF), German School of Journalism (DJS), Munich Film Workshop and University of Television and Film Munich (HFF). Mediaschool Bayern is a member of MedienCampus Bayern .

history

In 1994, the media council of the Bavarian State Center for New Media decided that the broadcasting and transmission capacities should be used for training purposes. In 1995 the afk GmbH was founded as a supporting company for the afk associations, thus also M94.5 and the sister associations.

On June 30, 1996, the training station began broadcasting in the Munich cable network, and the radio station in July. The hour-long television program was initially broadcast once a week and later twice a week. In 1997 the program was expanded to three days a week, from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. At that time there was no teaching desk; the finished broadcast tapes were delivered by the club members.

In 1999 M94.5 got its own teaching desk. The teaching editorial team is intended to offer young media enthusiasts a platform to gain their first experience in the world of television and to produce their own programs without the pressure of quotas. This concept was the first of its kind in Germany. From this point on, the interns began to produce their own articles and entire magazine programs. The radio channel changed its name from Afk M94.5 to M94.5 .

M94.5 has been broadcasting on Munich TV six days a week since 2008. and on the internet. Both Munich broadcasters now have their own studios on Rosenheimer Strasse near Media Works Munich. In 2018 it was decided to relocate it in the future under the label Mediaschool Bayern. In 2018 it was decided to relocate the training and further education channels under the label Mediaschool Bayern in the future.

Teaching desk

The teaching editorial team consists of full-time interns in the areas of editing, technology, public relations and documentation. The interns work free of charge for six months. You will receive instruction in television technology as well as in editorial work. After a training period (approx. Eight to ten weeks) in which the interns attend seminars and workshops, they continue to work for the M94.5 program under the direction of the afk team (a program coordinator, a duty manager, a technical manager , an editorial assistant and two trainee media designers for image and sound), as well as with the support of coaches.

The editorial interns work in broadcast planning, write moderations and press releases. The technical interns operate the equipment and edit the contributions produced in teams with the help of editing programs. Those who have successfully attended the moderation seminar are allowed to conduct interviews.

Part-time internships are also possible in the areas of public relations and documentation. The docu trainee ensures that the tape archive and the Archimedes editorial system are tidy. The PR intern checks the press texts, writes press releases and program information and participates in trade fair stands and other events.

M94.5 also offers apprenticeships in the field of sound and image design.

In-house productions

One of the in-house productions of M94.5 is the magazine Von 0 auf 89, which is completely produced every three months by the teaching staff. Among other things, docu-soap , cooking programs and crime series are parodied there. The format was awarded the Grimme Prize in 2012. The program is designed and moderated by Philipp Walulis .
