The MedienCampus Bayern e. V. is a registered association under the leadership of the Bavarian State Chancellery, the goal of which is to promote media education and training in Bavaria, to create new training modules and to provide advice to those interested in training. The association is based in Munich .
history
MedienCampus Bayern eV was founded in 1998 as a registered and non-profit association of institutions in the media sector in cooperation with the Free State of Bavaria. The Bavarian State Chancellery was responsible for the project until October 2013, then the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology. Since 2018, the MedienCampus Bayern has again been supported by the Bavarian State Chancellery.
In November 2014 the MedienCampus was merged with the MedienNetzwerk Bayern initiative to strengthen Bavaria as a media location. In addition to the MedienCampus, the media network includes the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology , Bavarian Broadcasting , the Bavarian State Center for New Media, the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern and the vbw - Association of Bavarian Economy. The MedienNetzwerk Bayern has a media location website and a media calendar. Since September 2016, the office of the Bavarian Media Network has been located at the Bavarian State Center for New Media.

The association has 120 members. Chairman of the board is the chief executive officer of the Association of Bavarian Newspaper Publishers, Markus Rick. Members of the board are Renate Hermann, Head of Department Journalism, Head of Multimedia Information and Communication, Professor of Multimedia and Communication at Ansbach University, Kerstin Prange, Deputy Head of Program at the Bavarian State Office for New Media, and Isabella Schmid, Head of Media Competence Projects at Bayerischer Rundfunk.
From 2014 to 2017 the board consisted of the former State Secretary Franz Josef Pschierer , Andreas Scherer, Chairman of the Bavarian Newspaper Publishers Association, Siegfried Schneider , President of the Bavarian State Agency for New Media , and Ulrich Wilhelm , Director of Bavarian Broadcasting. Nicole Schwertner was the branch manager until September 2019. Predecessors were Markus Kaiser and, until the end of 2009, Gabriele Goderbauer-Marchner . The project coordinator of the office is (as of 2020) Marita Reich.
Events
At the Munich Media Days every year in October, the association organizes the "MedienCampus-Areal" with roundtable discussions on basic and advanced training in the media sector. In addition, the members present themselves with stands at the ICM exhibition center in Munich.
The association organizes networking events such as the annual conferences for Bavarian media professors ("CampusTag"), design professors ("DesignCampus") or the training officers of newspapers and magazines ("VolontariatsCampus").
In addition, MedienCampus Bayern takes part in the local broadcast days in Nuremberg. In the area of cross-media, where he founded the Bavaria cross-media working group with Christian Jakubetz , Markus Kaiser and Ralf Hohlfeld, among others , he organizes events across Bavaria. He also organizes "Transforming Media - new business models in the digital world" together with BayMS, a subsidiary of the Bavarian State Office for New Media . In the winter semester he offered a lecture series on games and in the summer semester a lecture series on design with cooperation partners.
The MedienCampus has been participating in the Munich Creative Business Week (MCBW) with Augmented Reality Day and Animation Day since 2015 . With the Transmedia Day, which is organized by the Bavarian Film Center, a new media focus arises in the design week.

Scholarship program
The MedienCampus Bayern has awarded foreign scholarships to young media professionals, especially students, volunteers, young editors and young filmmakers, to the Bavarian partner province of Québec and Hollywood until 2013 . In a course, the participants received in-depth insights into their profession and then completed an internship in a renowned media company or a film production company.
In addition, the MedienCampus, together with Ansbach University and the training and further education channel afk tv, offers the "Elite Promotion of Video Journalism" grant.
seal of quality
MedienCampus certifies education and training institutions in the media sector and awards a seal of quality for this. The procedure is based very much on the accreditation of study programs. The MedienCampus as a study and career counseling for the media industry in Bavaria wants to offer school leavers and those interested in further education an overview of high quality offers.
The focus of the test procedure is an on-site inspection with two external and independent experts. A five-member advisory board, including Jörg Sadrozinski , head of the German School of Journalism , and the MedienCampus board ultimately decide on the award of the seal.
