Megan Gould

Megan Gould is an American violinist .

Gould studied violin at Indiana University and ethnomusicology with an emphasis on Middle Eastern music at the University of London . In London she was a student of the Egyptian violinist Ahmed Mukhtar and played classical Persian music with the Naghmeh Ensemble . She has performed in Paris, London, Budapest, Copenhagen and Dubai, Carnegie Hall , Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center and has worked on recordings and soundtracks by Philip Glass , Yungchen Lhamo , Bassam Saba , Natalie Merchant , Nico Muhly , Ani Difranco, among others and Lou Reed with.

Her numerous stage partners include David Burne , John Mellencamp , Sean Lennon and Donovan , the jazz musicians Fabian Almazan , Wayne Horvitz and Jenny Scheinman , the Greek composer Giannis Markopoulos and the Greek singers Alkistis Protopsaltis , Kostas Makedonas and Vasilis Papakonstantinou . She is a member of Yo Yo Mas Silk Road Ensemble , deputy musical director in Bassam Saba's New York Arabic Orchestra , first violinist in Fabian Alazan's Rhizome Ensemble , section leader of second violins in the Bard Conductor's Institute Orchestra and violinist in the Greek band Mikrokosmos and the Maeandros Ensemble .
