The milestone north of Wörlitz is a small monument in the town of Oranienbaum-Wörlitz in the Wittenberg district in Saxony-Anhalt . It is under monument protection and is entered in the monument register with registration number 094 40 465 as a monument .

location

The milestone is north of Wörlitz on the district road 2376 (until 2007 federal road 107 ). This branches off west of Wörlitz from the main connection Dessau to the then Anhalt state border near Rehsen and leads to Coswig (Anhalt) . A separate line began at each of these junctions. The first milestone has not been received, but whether there was a third is not clear.

Shape and inscriptions

The Anhalt all- round milestones are always round base stones. Their shape as well as their distances were based on the Prussian milestones of their time of origin. The distance from stone to stone was therefore 7,532 meters, which corresponded to a Prussian mile . These milestones were set up shortly after 1850 along the most important roads in Anhalt . In contrast to Prussia, no distinction was made between Staats-Chaussee , Kreis- Chaussee or fiscal road.

The inscription reads II miles from Dessau . So we are 15 kilometers away from the castle or market in Dessau. In the early 1870s, the mile was adjusted minimally and was then as long as 7,500 meters. The two-mile stone on the main line is to the east of Wörlitz. The gray sandstone cylinder was restored around 1990 after it was overturned. In 2005 the stone was paved over.
