location

Southwest of the Fläming in the former Anhalt-Zerbst on the county road 1250, the more western connection from Zerbst to the federal road 246 towards Wiesenburg / Mark . At this he stands south of Deetz on the east side of the road. Presumably here - as with the I-Myriameter stone at Gollbogen - the corresponding II-Myriameter stone was the one at Reuden / Anhalt .

History and shape

The 81 centimeter high round base stone is a former milestone . These stones, which were set in Anhalt from 1850 , stood at intervals of one mile. The Anhalt mile corresponded to the Prussian mile and was 7,532 meters long. The zero point of the count was at the castle in Dessau, and via the road to Roßlau, Zerbst became a kind of distribution center for the more important roads that followed. In the course of the unification of Germany to form the German Empire, the first decision was made for a new length of the mile, which corresponded to 7500 meters, then the kilometer was introduced in 1874. Since Anhalt implemented the orders immediately, it had to completely re-measure the land twice in the early 1870s and move the stones each time.

With the decision to use Myriameter stones in the former Anhalt-Zerbst, the stones could be set up again after being re-labeled, as a Myriameter corresponds to ten kilometers. So you actually didn't have to buy any new stones. But it should have happened anyway. The Zerbster Roland now served as the new zero point . The inscription on the granite stone was already illegible in the early 1990s and was designed in I Myriameter by Zerbst during a restoration in 2000 . It is not known whether this inscription has been handed down historically, because even the milestones that have been converted into myriameter stones were only 10 kilometers from Köthen (e.g. in Kleinpaschleben ).
