Ethan Morgan is a freshman at high school in a small, sleepy town. Ethan's parents decide to hire a babysitter . However, Erica is exactly the same age as Ethan, and Benny fell in love with her. Instead, however, Sarah shows up, who claims to stand in for Erica. However, something seems to be wrong with her. Ethan overhears her frantically talking to Erica on the phone and also discovers that she has no reflection. Sarah leaves the house in a flash, but Benny and Ethan follow her. When they see that she is sucking a rat in town, they find out about her. Sarah is a "bite", a precursor to a vampire. She tells the two of them the truth: her ex-boyfriend Jesse, a vampire bit her and turned her into a bite. That evening there is a party where she should drink human blood to become a real vampire. But since she refused, Jesse and his gang took Erica with them. She is now on her way to save Erica. First, the three of them go home and hire Benny's grandmother as a substitute babysitter. But a vampire disguised as a pizza delivery boy ambushes the three. A fight develops in the course of which the vampire is killed.
The two friends are shocked and initially let Sarah go to the party alone. However, when they find out that their nerd friend Rory is also attending the party, they decide to blow up the party with mobile tanning tubes that they want to use as lightsabers. As the fight progresses, Erica and Rory are bitten. Sarah and the two of them can escape. Before confronting the vampires again, they begin research. Ethan develops seer powers that he can use in the investigation. So they find out that Jesse is over two hundred years old. With the help of a box he wants to catch 219 souls in order to awaken ancient, powerful vampires. As a camouflage he uses the premiere of the latest part of the vampire filming Dusk , a kind of Twilight variant in which the city's cinema is sold out to the last seat. Benny's grandmother comes to their aid, introducing herself as an "earth woman" (a kind of witch) and revealing to Benny that he too has magical powers.
The three go to the premiere and a fight against the vampires begins. However, Jesse is able to escape with the box and wants to free those souls that he was still able to get from an old tree in order to awaken the vampires. However, Sarah, Benny and Ethan face him. At the last moment, Ethan opens the box and the souls annihilate Jesse. The next morning, Erica reveals herself to be the new opponent of the three.
