action

Sadık, who comes from a village on the Aegean coast of Turkey, is supposed to study agriculture in Istanbul according to the wishes of his father Hüseyin in order to later take over the father's farm. However, when the father learns that Sadık is primarily engaged in political activities, a serious rift breaks out between the two.

When Sadık's wife went into labor on the night of September 12, 1980, due to the military coup - a curfew was imposed - the couple were unable to find a taxi or anyone else to take them to a hospital. Sadık's wife gives birth to their son Deniz in a park, but dies in childbirth.

Because of his political activities, Sadık was arrested, tortured and held in a prison for three years, from which his lung was damaged.

When his health deteriorated a few years later and he learned that he was going to die, he and his son Deniz returned to his family in the village on the Aegean Sea to entrust Deniz to his family's care. Although the grandfather initially avoids his son and grandson and is irreconcilable towards them, he slowly begins to develop affection for his grandson and through this he also approaches his son Sadık. Finally, Hüseyin and Sadık have a discussion, during which Sadık also tells his father about his terminal illness. When Sadık dies some time later, the grandparents and the rest of his family take responsibility and care for Deniz.

Reviews

“A complex storyline, very good actors. A family drama with a political background. Emotions, good music and an excellently staged child role. "

- Cineman

“Mixture of melodrama and comedy that uses the political developments in Turkey in the 1980s as the backdrop for a family story that is dedicated to tolerance and forgiveness. A film worth discussing, even if foolishness and crude characters initially distract from the topic. "

“With his drama, director Çagan Irmak presents a wonderful family story that was one of the most successful films of 2006 in Turkey, alongside the controversial action film Valley of the Wolves . In picturesque pictures and full of emotion, Irmak describes the simple life in the country and shows the peculiarities of the quirky family members. All of this is supported by consistently good to very good actor performances. Great: Çetin Tekindor as a stubborn grandfather. "
