Mekbuda (from Arabic الذراع المقبوضة, DMG aḏ-ḏirāʿ al-maqbūḍa  'drawn in arm') is the proper name of the star Zeta Geminorum (short: ζ Gem) in the constellation Gemini .

Mekbuda is a variable star of the Delta Cephei type , the apparent magnitude of which fluctuates between +3.62 m and +4.18 m with a period of 10.15 days.
As is typical for Cepheids, its spectral class is also variable and lies between F7 Ib and G3 Ib.

Mekbuda has a +7.6 mag bright companion of the spectral type G1 at an angular distance of 101 "at a position angle of 346 degrees, which can already be seen in prism binoculars . Mekbuda is approx. 1170 light years away.

As a star near the ecliptic, Mekbuda can be covered by the moon and (very rarely!) By planets .
