Milton Stewart (born September 19, 1929 in Cleveland , Ohio , † February 24, 2002 in Pacifica , California ) was an American actor , musician and teacher .

Life

Milton Stewart, as his real name is, was an excellent saxophonist, he played with jazz musicians such as John Coltrane and Charlie Parker in New York . He taught acting at San Francisco State University in San Francisco . Danny Glover was one of his students . There he founded a theater group called Bantu ( Black Actors Now Through Unity ). He gained fame among German-speaking television audiences through his portrayal of Billy Melrose in the agent series Agentin mit Herz , which he played between 1983 and 1987.

Mel Stewart was married to Annie Dong from 1977 until his death . From this marriage a daughter, Alia Dong-Stewart , was born. He died on February 24, 2002 of complications from Alzheimer's disease .
