description

Melchior in the midst of corn fields shortly before the 2012 harvest

In the description of the Oberamt Leutkirch from 1843, Melchior is described as a farm with six residents. The name probably goes back to Abbot Cölestin Frener , who during his time as the caretaker of the Ochsenhausen monastery in Tannheim gave each house a saint's name instead of a house number .

Melchior is located in the Illertal on an almost flat surface. It can be described in the shape of a triangle , starting from the state road (L) 260 from Tannheim to Illerbachen, there on the K 7577 to the junction of the K 7583 to Egelsee and from Egelsee on the L 300 back to Tannheim. Tannheim airfield is located one kilometer south of Melchior . North of Melchior, a paved, agricultural path connects Haldau with Egelsee .

There is a house on Melchior, which is connected to a larger agricultural building via a corridor. Another agricultural building is located 25 meters east of this building.

economy

There was a conventional agricultural operation in the village that leased out its land.
