The Illerwerk II Tannheim is one of eleven districts of the municipality of Tannheim in the Biberach district in Upper Swabia .

description

The suburb was founded in 1923 as part of the construction of the Illerkraftwerke . It is located two kilometers northeast of Tannheim. The site includes the EnBW company buildings and the Tannheim reservoir , which flows into the Illerkanal . The small residential complex for the employees of the power plant had to give way to a new company building and was demolished in early 2000. The Tannheim sewage treatment plant is located in the immediate vicinity of the suburb . In 2013 the owner renewed the intake structure on the Illerkanal near the Mooshausen weir. That is why the canal was drained to the Tannheim power station.

economy

The place is almost entirely owned by EnBW , formerly Zweckverband Oberschwäbische Elektrizitätswerke , which operates a canal power plant there. Overall, the place is part of the infrastructure of the Illerkraftwerke. The nominal output of Plant II in Tannheim is 12.4 MW. In total, the Illerkraftwerke are able to supply 70,000 two-person households with electricity. The entire system with the plants in Aitrach, Mooshausen, Tannheim, Unteropfingen and Dettingen generated 225 million kilowatt hours of electricity in 2010 , making it the second largest power plant for regenerative energy in Baden-Württemberg after the new Rheinfelden hydropower plant .
