description
The village of Oy , which was deserted after the Thirty Years' War , was located in the area of the Oyhof . The Oyhof is located on Oyhofer Straße coming from Tannheim train station, right next to the bridge over the Illerkanal there . The living space consists of a forester's house belonging to the Graeflich von Schaesberg Forest Administration with the associated farm buildings and a fenced-in area of around eight hectares, called a wildlife park . There are over a hundred wild boars , deer, roe deer and other animals in the area. In the vicinity of the Oyhof there are a Celtic hill and several barrows . In 1833 the Oyhof was renamed Sophienhof after Countess Sophie von Schaesberg (* June 24, 1823 - November 17, 1845). In 1949 the stately tithe barn of the Oyhof, built around 1630, was demolished. The stones from the church in the former village of Oy were used in 1781 to build the St. Michael chapel in Arlach .
In 2006, a private chapel dedicated to Saint Crescentia von Kaufbeuren was built at the Oyhof.
