Sign E. Smith

Report E. Smith Jr. (born August 28, 1930 in Greenfield , Massachusetts , † December 16, 2007 in Hyannis , Massachusetts) was an American pilot.

The son of Maria L. Allen received his bachelor's degree from the Hebron Academy (1945–1949) in Hebron (Maine) , his Master of Arts from Brown University in 1964 and his Ph.D. in 1971 from Boston University (1965–1967). in history. Between 1962 and 1990 he served in the US Air Force as navigator and pilot of the Strategic Air Command . He earned degrees from Air Force Command and General Staff College and Air War College . He taught at Littleton High School in Colorado and Suffield Academy for 25 years .

He was the first American historian who was able to conduct archival research and interviews in the GDR in connection with the bombing of Dresden .
