Mencheperre was the son of the king of Upper Egypt , Pinudjem I , and around 1045 to 992 BC. During the 21st Dynasty ( Third Intermediate Period ) " High Priest of Amun " in Thebes and as this successor to his brother Djedchonsiuefanch .

Other siblings were Psusennes I , the " Consort of Amun " Maatkare and Masaharta .

Little is known about the time of his reign. He carried the title of "King of Upper and Lower Egypt ", which was otherwise reserved for the Pharaoh , and had several fortresses and forts built in Middle Egypt . On the " Stele of the Exiles " from the Karnak Temple it is reported that Mencheperre had a wall built around the temple area there to protect it from the spreading residential buildings.
