Menemsha Hills is a 211  acres (85.4  ha ) nature reserve near Chilmark on Martha's Vineyard Island in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . It is managed by The Trustees of Reservations organization.

Protected area

Within the protected area, Prospect Hill, rising 308  ft (93.9  m ), is the second highest point on the island; the 311 ft (94.8 m) high Peak Hill is just a little further southeast, but outside the reserve. From there you have a good view of the Elizabeth Islands , the eponymous village of Menemsha and the cliffs from Aquinnah to Nomans Land .

Approximately 3  mi (4.8  km ) of hiking trails lead visitors through wetlands , forests, flat stretches of coast, as well as to a rocky coast. Red maples , beeches , red oaks , American white oaks and peasant oaks thrive there . Near the coast, grass and pitch pines dominate , there are also occurrences of goldenrod and Prunus maritima .
