Camel Meriem (born October 18, 1979 in Audincourt ) is a former French football player with Algerian citizenship.
Career
society
Meriem started his professional career at FC Sochaux . There he played between 1998 and 2001 and was able to score nine goals in 92 games. In 2001 he was able to celebrate promotion to Ligue 1 with Les Lionceaux . In the winter of the 2001/02 season he moved to Girondins Bordeaux for four years , but was loaned to Olympique Marseille for the 2003/04 season, where he scored three goals in 31 matches. With Bordeaux he won the Coupe de la Ligue 2-1 against FC Lorient in the summer of 2002 . At the beginning of the 2005 season he signed a new contract with AS Monaco . This is still valid until 2009. The contract was not renewed and since then he has been Without Club. In February 2010 he joined the Greek first division club Aris Saloniki where he signed a contract until 2014. But only half a year later he moved to AC Arles-Avignon and then to OGC Nice . From 2013 to 2015 he played for Apollon Limassol in Cyprus and ended his career there.
National team
Meriem was a junior international player in France and took part in the 2002 U21 European Championship in Switzerland . He ran four times for the French A-Team between 2004 and 2006. Due to a torn cruciate ligament in April 2006, he could not be nominated for the 2006 World Cup squad.
