Merz gegen Merz is a German comedy television series that has been broadcast on ZDF since April 18, 2019 . Annette Frier and Christoph Maria Herbst can be seen in the leading roles . The idea comes from Stromberg author Ralf Husmann , who also contributed the script for many episodes and acted as the main author. Other authors are Christian Martin and Sonja Schönemann .

Anne and Erik Merz have been married for years when they discover on Anne's birthday that they actually no longer love each other, but can only endure the daily grind. They decide to split up, but it turns out to be not that easy. Because not only the common house or the pubescent son pose challenges for the couple, but also the company of Anne's parents, in which Erik holds a leading position and in which Anne also works. When Anne's father Ludwig was diagnosed with dementia shortly after the separation , he did not want to do without Erik in the company. Anne doesn't want Erik to be in charge of the company alone and demands more responsibility. While Anne and Erik are spatially separated, they have to appear together more in the company. Meanwhile, her son has fallen in love and tries to impress his girlfriend with actions such as stealing.
