Elmira Rafizadeh

Elmira Rafizadeh (* 1981 in Tehran , Iran ) is a German actress of Iranian origin.

Life

Rafizadeh immigrated to Germany with her mother at the age of 5 during the Iran-Iraq war in 1986. She became known to a broader public through roles in the multicultural context of the encounter between the oriental and German way of life (for example in Ein Fall für Zwei Episode Ehrensache , TV film In Last Second ), but also through the embodiment of classic theater roles.

She completed her training from 2003 to 2006 at the drama school Center for Drama, Movement and Dance in Cologne.

For the dramatic-musical production of Antigone for the Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Festival in August 2008, she was seen alongside Maria Schrader as Ismene and Eurydike in the Cologne Philharmonic and in the Laeszhalle Hamburg. Bernhard Steiner was the conductor and artistic director of the production .

Elmira Rafizadeh played in the ensemble of the Koblenz Theater from 2007 to 2009 . There she worked in the productions Pünktchen and Anton (director: Annette Wolf), Woyzeck (director: Werner Tritzschler), The Chinese Nightingale (director: Annegret Ritzel) and Mother Courage and Her Children (director: Werner Tritzschler). In 2011, the theater production Frau Müller muss weg (Theater im Bauturm Cologne) was nominated for the Kurt Hackenberg Prize for political theater, in which Elmira Rafizadeh played a leading role.

At the Bonn Theater in 2013 she performed the world premiere of Getürkt (by Jörg Menke-Peitzmeyer). The drama was nominated for the German Youth Theater Award.

Rafizadeh is also continuously present in German film and TV productions. I.a. in the Berlin Tatort Ätzend directed by Dror Zahavi, in the TV film Glückskind together with Herbert Knaup (director: Michael Verhoeven), or in Ohne Dich (director: Florian Baxmeyer). In the ARD television film ransom , Elmira Rafizadeh played one of the investigators together with Mišel Matičević and Simon Licht under the direction of Stephan Wagner. The thriller was nominated for the Grimme Prize. In 2014 her film Nilou , which was shot in Tehran and Switzerland, was shown as SRF short film of the week on Swiss television (director: Amir Hamz). Elmira took on the leading role in the animation film Tehran Tabu in 2015. The film had its world premiere in 2017 at the 70th Cannes International Film Festival. Elmira was in front of the camera for Constantin Film in 2016 for the cinema comedy Verpiss Dich Schneewittchen with Bülent Ceylan in the main cast.
