The Messelingbach is an orographically left tributary of the Tauernbach in the Lienz district (East Tyrol). It is located in the municipality of Matrei in East Tyrol .

Location and course

The headwaters of the Messelingbach are located in the Granatspitz group between the Messeling in the west, the Hochgasser in the north and the Bärenköpfen in the west at a height of just under 2,600 meters. The springs located there first feed the Gray Lake , which drains to the southeast into the Black Lake and then into the Green Lake . After the Green Lake, the Messlingbach runs relatively straight to the southwest, where it flows into the Tauernbach a little north of the Matreier Tauernhaus .

The Messelingbach is used for energy in the lower reaches. The small hydropower plant belonging to the Matreier Tauernhaus is a run-of-river power plant with an output of 0.76 MW with a generation of 3.6 GWh per year.
