CI Acid Blue 93 (also methyl blue ) is an acid dye from the group of triphenylmethane dyes . Both the substance mixture of Acid Blue 93 with the very similar Acid Blue 22 ( water blue ) and these two pure substances themselves are often referred to as water-soluble aniline blue . It itself should not be confused with the similarly named methylene blue .

Methyl blue has its absorption maximum in the wavelength range below 600 nm. The dye is soluble in water.

use

Methyl blue stains collagen in tissue structures blue. It is used as dye for the Polychrom - staining of histological sections, in the cytology and the pH - indicator used (pH 9.4 to 14.0).
