The Mettmecke is a 4.8 km long orographically right tributary of the Linnepe in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis , Germany .
geography
The river rises north of Hellefeld at an altitude of 480 m above sea level. NN at the Hellefelder Höhe. From here it flows first in a westerly direction and later to the south-west. In Westenfeld near Gut Schnellenhaus it flows into 275 m above sea level. NN in the Linnepe.
The source and upper course are in the Sundern nature reserve . The lower reaches of the Mettmecke to the mouth is in the Lower Mettmecketal nature reserve .
On its 4.8 km long path, the Mettmecke overcomes an altitude difference of 205 m.
nature
The Mettmecke is surrounded by forest and grassland for about half its course. This means that their course has remained very close to nature. At the Mettmecke was dippers detected as breeding bird. The black stork , which breeds in the area of the Hellefelder Höhe, occurs as a food guest. In Good Quick House comes grass snake before.
