The Mexican-East Timorese relations describe the interstate relationship between Mexico and East Timor .

history

Mexico supported UNAMET in the preparations for the independence referendum in East Timor in 1999 .

Mexico recognized East Timor's independence as soon as it was proclaimed on May 20, 2002, making it the second Latin American country after Brazil . At the independence celebrations, Mexico was represented by the Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry, Miguel Marín Bosch . Diplomatic relations were established on September 26, 2003.

East Timor does not have a diplomatic mission in Mexico. The East Timorese ambassador in Washington, DC is responsible

The Honorary Consul Ivanildo Quirino represents Mexico in East Timor. The consulate is located on Avenida Portugal in the Pantai Kelapa district of Dilis . The ambassador Armando Gonzalo Alvarez Reina (since 2018) has his official residence in Jakarta .

economy

In 2018, the East Timor’s Statistical Office gave imported East Timor wading from Mexico worth 341,000 US dollars. This puts Mexico in 30th place among importers. 124,500 kg of coffee worth US $ 209,000 went from East Timor to Mexico (14th place among export destinations).
