history

Haiti and East Timor are both founding members of the g7 + countries , even if Haiti's representatives were absent from the founding conference in Dili, the capital of East Timor, in April 2010. A number of states that are considered to be unstable are organized in this group. The aim is to represent the common interests of the members vis-à-vis the donor countries of development aid and to exchange experiences with stabilization measures. In the World Hunger Index, East Timor ranks 10th and Haiti 11th, which means that the two countries are considered countries with severe hunger.

East Timor’s Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão visited Port-au-Prince in 2012 on the occasion of the second ministerial retreat of the g7 +. He also met President Michel Martelly , Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe and the Haiti Cabinet, among others . Gusmão was accompanied by Emília Pires , finance minister and chairwoman of the g7 + and foreign minister Constâncio Pinto . In addition to the g7 +, topics included experiences in regional development in the legal system, tourism, education, natural resources, agriculture and security. During the visit, East Timor donated one million US dollars to the Caribbean country's development aid. Just a few weeks earlier, Hurricane Sandy hit Haiti.
