Loro Horta (2016)

Cuba is a close friend of East Timor . With the first proclamation of independence in 1975, East Timor was recognized by Cuba. Since the liberation of East Timor from the Indonesian occupation, Cuba has provided extensive development aid for the other island state, for example in medical care. Numerous Cuban doctors are on duty in East Timor and East Timorese are studying medicine in Cuba.
