The Chilean-East Timorese relations describe the interstate relationship between Chile and East Timor .

history

After his service in Australia , the former Chilean diplomat Juan Federer worked together with his East Timorese wife María do Céu for the independence of East Timor from the Indonesian occupation.

Chile participated with personnel in the United Nations Interim Administration for East Timor (UNTAET) and in the United Nations Assistance Mission in East Timor (UNMISET). For the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT) Chile presented funding.

The two countries established diplomatic relations on September 16, 2002.

The Chilean ambassador to Jakarta , Indonesia, has dual accreditation for East Timor.

The East Timorese embassy in Jakarta is responsible for contacts with Chile.

Sports

Several Chileans were and are active in East Timorese football. For example, trained Simon Elissetche the Assalam FC (2016), Karketu Dili (2017) and the East Timorese football team (2017). He has been the coach of FC Lalenok United since 2020 . Antonio Vega Ordenes played for Karketu Dili in 2017 and Allan Manzo in 2020 for FC Lalenok United.

Entry requirements

Citizens from one of the two countries require a visa to enter the other country.

For 2018, the East Timor Statistics Office does not indicate any trade relations between Chile and East Timor.
