The film Mia is about the siblings Mia and Ben who lost their mother in a traffic accident . You will therefore be taken to a psychiatric clinic after the accident . The eponymous Mia looks rather hopefully into the future. Her brother Ben is still struggling with the past and cannot finish with it.

The shooting took place in 2018 in the former Elsey hospital and the current “Center for Mental Health”. Dr. Bodo Lieb, the medical director of the center, was available for advice and the medical staff helped out as extras. The film was shot over six days in the Elsey hospital as well as in Hagen and Witten.
