Benjamin Grüter (* 1974 in Zurich ) is a Swiss actor .

Life

education

Benjamin Grüter completed an acting training at the University of Music and Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig from 1997 to 2001 . During his training he played for two years in the drama studio of the Dresden State Theater .

In 2001, after his graduation, he was hired by the then artistic director Friedrich Schirmer as a permanent member of the ensemble at the theaters of the Stuttgart State Theater . Here he stepped u. a. in a dramatization of Arthur Schnitzler's monologue Leutnant Gustl and as a lover Mellefont in Lessing's tragedy Miss Sara Sampson .

In 2005, when Friedrich Schirmer changed director to Hasko Weber , Grüter remained in the permanent ensemble of the Stuttgart Theater. He worked in Stuttgart a. a. with the directors Claudia Bauer , Elias Perrig , Erich Sidler , Volker Lösch , Stephan Rottkamp , Sebastian Baumgarten and Hasko Weber.

During the artistic directorship of Hasko Weber u. a .: Tim in Dogville (2005), Kasimir in Kasimir and Karoline (2005), Snyder in The Saint Joan of Slaughterhouses (2006), Lwow in Iwanow (2006), Jim in The Glass Menagerie (2009), Secretary Wurm in Kabale and Love (2009), Hettore Gonzaga / Prince of Guastalla in Emilia Galotti (2010) and the title role in Amphitryon (2011).

In the 2012/13 season he took on the title role in Molière's comedy Tartuffe at the Schauspiel Stuttgart (in the alternative quarters of the Nationaltheater Mannheim ) , staged by Claudia Bauer. Also in the 2012/13 season he appeared in Stuttgart at the Schauspiel Nord as Heinrich Blaubart in Dea Loher's play Bluebeard - Hope of Women ; his partner was Lisa Bitter as Julia.

From the 2013/14 season to 2017, Grüter was a permanent member of the ensemble at Theater Bonn . He played there u. a. Gregers Werle in Die Wildente , König Gunter in Die Nibelungen (premiere: 2013/14 season), the writer Boris Alexejewitsch Trigorin in Die Möwe (2014/15 season) and the eldest son Christian, who celebrated his father's birthday by revealing a family secret disturbs and thus sets in motion “the dismantling of a middle-class family” in Das Fest (season 2014/15). In the 2014/15 season he also appeared in a stage version of Herz der Finsternis . Other roles in Bonn were the “dashing” officer Lieutenant Colonel Vershinin in Three Sisters (premiere: 2015/16 season), the mayor Momus in Das Schloss (premiere: 2015/16 season), Father Lorenzo in Romeo and Juliet (premiere: 2016 season / 17) and the senior teacher Arnholm, whom he embodies again in the “type of a smart and mostly superior businessman”, in The Woman from the Sea (premiere: 2016/17 season).

In the 2017/18 season he appeared at the Schauspielhaus Bochum as Nieminen in the play The Man Without a Past (based on the film by Aki Kaurismäki ).

Movie and TV

Since 2005, Grüter has had several film and television roles. However, the focus of his work as an actor is still the theater.

In the crime series Tatort he had a supporting role in the Swiss Tatort crime thriller Between Two Worlds (2014) as the Lucerne- based father of the youngest daughter of a murdered single mother. In the ARD television film The Chosen (2014) he played the role of the adult Erik von der Burg, who was sexually abused as a boy at the Odenwald School . In the ZDF crime film Wilsberg: 90-60-90 (first broadcast: December 2014) he was the assistant to the manager of the model Sonja Conrad ( Jasmin Lord ), who is the focus of the story .

He also had regular guest appearances on various television series. In the ZDF crime series SOKO Cologne (February 2015) he was seen in an episode role as project developer and hotel planner Robert Behring. In the RTL television series Der Lehrer (first broadcast: January 2017) he had an episode role alongside Tessa Mittelstaedt ; he portrayed Bernd Golonka, the father of an 11-year-old schoolgirl who feels like a boy. In the 5th season of the ZDF series Heldt (December 2017) he took on one of the episode roles as a customer of a repair café and a former prison Nurse trying to get a patient's hidden prey. In the ZDF television series SOKO Stuttgart (February 2018), Grüter was seen in a leading role as a suspect " womanizer " and owner of a barber shop .

Since the 6th film in the ARD television series Praxis mit Meerblick (first broadcast: March 2019), he has played the leading role of the doctor Dr. Hannes Stresow, who joins the general practice of the main character Nora Kaminski ( Tanja Wedhorn ) as a new partner .

Others

Grüter is also a regular radio play speaker, so u. a. in the Agatha Christie crime thriller Tot on the third floor , a SWR production from 2006, Fünfkind by Marie T. Martin (SWR 2013) and in the radio crime scene Finkbeiner's birthday (2010).

In 2003, Grüter received the award for “Best Young Actor” from the Swiss Armin Ziegler Foundation. He lives in Gelsenkirchen .
