Michèle Crider
Michèle Crider (born 1959 in Quincy (Illinois) ) is an American opera singer ( soprano ).
Life
Crider received her vocal degree from the University of Iowa . After winning the District Metropolitan Opera Auditions twice , she continued her studies at the Zurich Opera House studio . In 1988 she was a finalist in the Luciano Pavarotti Competition and in 1989 she won one of the three first prizes at the Geneva International Music Competition . She then made her debut in Dortmund with the role of Leonora in Il trovatore .
Since 1991 Crider has made regular guest appearances at the world's major opera houses , including the Royal Opera House , Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, San Francisco Opera , Los Angeles Opera , Deutsche Oper Berlin and the State Operas of Vienna , Munich , Berlin and Hamburg , the Milan Teatro alla Scala and others.
As a concert singer, Crider has made guest appearances at the Salzburg Festival , the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino , the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Carnegie Hall in New York. Crider also performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra , the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic, the Paris Opera and the WDR Symphony Orchestra , Cologne.
