Michaël Rossi (born April 12, 1988 in Chambéry ) is a French racing car driver .

Career

Rossi began his motorsport career in karting in 2001 , in which he was active until 2005. In 2006 he moved into the single-seater racing and was 25th in the French Formula Renault . He also took part in two Italian Formula Renault races and was a guest starter in the British Formula Renault winter series.

After only one year in formula racing , Rossi switched to touring car racing in 2007 and competed in the Renault Mégane Eurocup . He won a race and finished his first season in ninth place in the championship. In 2008 Rossi stayed in the Renault Mégane Eurocup. He won four races this season and won the championship with 170 to 154 points ahead of Maxime Martin .

In 2009 Rossi couldn't find a full-time cockpit and he took part in eight out of twelve races in the SEAT León Eurocup . He decided two for himself and finished the season in sixth place overall. He also returned to the Renault Mégane Eurocup for an event, finishing third. He also took part in two Formula Le Mans races . In 2010, Rossi received a cockpit from Sunred Engineering for the entire SEAT León Eurocup season. He won a race and lost at the end of the season with 42 to 48 points only to the master Gábor Wéber . In addition, Rossi was active in the French SEAT León Supercopa and finished the season in fourth place in the drivers' championship. Rossi also took part in two events of the European Touring Car Cup (ETC Cup) and made his debut for Sunred at the race in Mimasaka in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).

In 2011 Rossi switched to GT racing and competed in the FIA GT1 World Championship . He started for two racing teams and finished 23rd in the drivers' championship at the end of the season. He also took part in an event of the FIA GT3 European Championship and the French GT Championship.
