Michael A. Stackpole

Michael A. Stackpole (* 1957 in Wausau , Wisconsin ) is an American science fiction and fantasy author , as well as game and computer game developer. He became known as an author through his collaboration with the X-Wing series, which is set in the Star Wars universe, and with the Battletech novel series.

biography

Michael A. Stackpole was born in Wausau, Wisconsin in 1957. His mother, Janet Stackpole, was a teacher and his father, Jim Stackpole, is a pediatrician. In 1975 Stackpole graduated from Rice Memorial High School and went to the University of Vermont, which he graduated in 1979. He sold his first gaming project in 1977. Since then he has lived in Arizona , except for a four-month stint in Hartfort, where he works as a consultant for Coleco Industries. In 1987 he was hired by FASA Corporation to write the BattleTech novel warrior trilogy . An asteroid discovered by David B. Healy on March 23, 2001 was named 165612 Stackpole .
